There are two types of laminate flooring. The difference is: engineered wood is glued with multiple layers of solid wood, and each layer is perpendicular to the layer below and above it for better stability. The top layer is a thin layer of high-quality hardwood coated with acrylic finish. The plastic laminate is completely artificial, with a layer of melamine at the bottom, a resin-saturated fiberboard in the center, and a wood grain print on the top, protected by a layer of transparent hard plastic. The engineered laminate flooring is about twice the cost of plastic laminate flooring. Its thin hardwood top layer makes it more susceptible to dents, scratches and stains.

Unlike plastic laminate flooring, engineered laminate flooring can be restored up to 3 times through careful polishing and repair. Because of this, it has a longer service life than plastic laminate flooring-if you place it away from areas prone to water and high wear. If you plan to sell your house within a few years, consider engineered laminate flooring.

The anti-mark finish and plastic internal components make engineered laminate flooring very durable. Compared with engineered laminate flooring, they are more resistant to damp, pet paws, inline skates and flip-flops attacked by sand and dust. Manufacturers have made some progress in making wood grain printing look very realistic. Plastic laminates are more suitable for those who wish to have the appearance of wooden floors in humid places.
